Oklahoma City Thunder Centre Steven Adams' season is on the line again in the NBA playoffs on Saturday afternoon (NZ time).

Adams' Thunder is trailing the Utah Jazz 3-2 in the best of seven, and they must win to send the series to a deciding game seven, which would be played in Oklahoma City on Monday (NZ time).

The 24-year-old will have plenty of family support back in New Zealand, including from his older sister, shot put star Dame Valerie.

Dame Val is back in New Zealand after winning silver the Commonwealth Games, and she will be cheering on her brother to succeed.

She said she hadn't watched many games due to her busy schedule, but she has some words of encouragement for her younger brother.

"I am over the moon and so proud of him and everything he has done for that team," she told Newshub.

"Not only this year but how he has carried himself over the last few years by going to the States, making it to the NBA and how he has presented himself.

"That goes to show the way he is, he's really down to Earth, and he's from Rotorua. You can't take that away from him."

The Thunder won game five of the series 107-99, despite trailing by 25 points in the third quarter.

The result was the biggest comeback in the franchise's history.

Game six between the OKC Thunder and Utah Jazz tips off at 2:30pm (NZ time).
