Starbucks has created controversy amongst Christians with its minimalist red cup design for the holiday season.
Buzzfeed reported that the company's designers went for a simple design with "a bright poppy colour on top that shades into a darker cranberry below."
Last year's design featured snowflakes and other winter-inspired decorations.
Angry customers tweeted their frustrations about the cups with one Twitter using saying, "since you're running away from Christianity, I'm running from you! Just exercising my financial choice".
Others have been buying coffee and telling the barista their name is "Merry Christmas" so it appears on the cup.
The American coffee giant sells other Christmas-themed goods including a Christmas blend coffee and a Starbucks advent calendar.
