Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage's couldn't get a knighthood from the Queen of England, so he went for the next best thing - being knighted by a little girl with a plastic sword on Russian government-funded television.
But even that ever-so heartwarming ceremony didn't go according to plan. As the deed was done on RT show News Thing, the young "queen" blurted out, "My mummy says you hate foreigners."
Nevertheless, the RT host told Mr Farage he is now "honorary ambassador to the United States" and "honorary MP for South Thanet because they didn't elect you for real".
Mr Farage also denied the little girl's claim, chuckling at her with the show's host.
Mr Farage resigned as UKIP leader last year, and has been publicly feuding with UKIP MP Douglas Carswell, who is rumoured to be in talks to ditch the party and rejoin the Conservatives.
