An American tourist has been hospitalised in Germany after two passers-by punched the man multiple times after he gave a Nazi salute.
The attack on the man happened in the city of Dresden in the early hours of Saturday.
Police say the unnamed 41-year-old was intoxicated when he was attacked and is now being investigated for violating German laws against the use of Nazi symbols or slogans.
It's not the first time tourists have been caught doing offensive Nazi actions in Germany this month.
Two Chinese tourists were caught posing in photos doing a Nazi gesture in front of the Reichstag building in Berlin on August 5.
The 36-year-old and 49-year-old were arrested by police and charged with "using symbols of illegal organisations."
The pair were later released after paying a fine of NZD $800 each.
