It is no surprise that New Zealand is not the only country dealing with a drug crisis. In the US, a commission into opioid use has found the problem to be so extreme; they want the president to declare it a national healthcare emergency.
In 2015, one third of all Americans were prescribed some form of opioids and now the death toll from addiction related deaths is soaring.
