An Italian woman didn't have to worry about being stood up on her wedding day because after a 12-year relationship, she married herself.
Laura Mesi had it all - bridesmaids, a guest list of 70 and even a three-layer cake - just no groom.
Ms Mesi, 40, believes she is the first Italian woman to have a solo wedding, even if it isn't legally binding.
"I firmly believe that each of us must first of all love ourselves," she told the BBC. "You can have a fairytale even without the prince."
Ms Mesi first had the idea of a solo wedding when a 12-year relationship came to an end two years ago.
"I told friends and family that if I had not found my soulmate by my 40th birthday I would marry myself," she told La Repubblica newspaper.
She reportedly splashed out more than $16,000 for her big day, and even went on her honeymoon to Egypt by herself.
