The son of Donald Trump has used a photograph of the US President's granddaughter on Halloween to unleash a scathing takedown on beneficiaries.
Donald Trump Jr, whose daughter Chloe participated in trick-or-treating on October 31, posted an image of her with a bucket of confectionery she'd gathered - but bizarrely accompanied it with a caption about economic policy.
"I'm going to take half of Chloe's candy tonight and give it to some kid who sat at home," he wrote.
"It's never to early to teach her about socialism [sic]."
Donald Jr's father benefitted greatly from a capitalist system during his time as a real estate mogul.
Responses to the post varied widely - with the most vocal detractors calling out the Trumps for hypocrisy and their closed-mindedness on socialism.
Others pointed out that he has asked others in the past to bail him out, so himself relied on the goodwill and generosity of others to get out of financial trouble.
