A man accused of trying to punch an 11-year-old girl while his mate savagely attacked her friend in a Sydney mall has walked free on bail.
Twenty-year-old Matthew James was already on bail on other serious charges at the time of the incident, including resisting arrest, assaulting police and aggravated break-and-enter, 7 News reports.
James and a friend allegedly confronted a 13-year-old boy at the Quarry Centre on Monday demanding his shoes.
He then allegedly tried to punch the boy's 11-year-old friend.
James has been released into his father's care and cannot leave home without him.
