More than 150 naturists left their clothes at the door as they entered a Paris museum on Friday.

The Palais de Tokyo Contemporary Art Museum opened its doors on Friday to nudist visitors for a one-off nudist exhibition, Fille de la Nuit (Discord, Daughter of the Night).

The exhibition was open to naturist during special visiting hours and the event sold out in less than two days.

The Paris Naturists Association boasts 88,000 followers within the city, with around 2.6 million practitioners in France.

While the museum is a pioneer within Paris, nudists' events in museums are growing in popularity.

In 2013, a gallery in Vienna had a special viewing of an exhibit of paintings celebrating male nudity.

More recently, a museum in Australia also opened its doors to naked viewers.

A nudist clubbing night in France is planned for later this year.
