A rock the size of a car has been removed from a cliff face near Sumner in Christchurch, after a 4.7 quake struck at 8:45pm on Wednesday night.
Engineers have been monitoring the cliff face with lasers, and noticed the 5m high rock gave shifted about 300mm.
On Thursday morning, a team of abseillers inserted airbags behind the rock. They then inflated the airbags, forcing the rock off the cliff.
