Fire crews fought desperately to stop a blaze at a block of flats in Invercargill from spreading to surrounding units this evening.
The fire started just after 6:30pm this evening in the block of 12 flats on Dee St.
Southern fire communications spokesman Andrew Norris said they searched the buildings but there was no one inside.
Four fire engines attended the blaze, which has now been put out. There are no reports of injuries.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze.Newshub.
