People are being encouraged to get vaccinated ahead of the flu season.
The immunisation campaign launches today -- it's free to adults over 65, as well as pregnant women and some with chronic medical conditions.
Around 1.2 million doses of the influenza vaccine were used last year in New Zealand.
Influenza peaks in July and August but hospitals are already reporting a few early cases.
