A campaign has been mounted for overseas drivers to display bright yellow 'T Plates' on their windscreens when driving in New Zealand.
Supporters believe tourists should have to pass a test before being allowed to drive, and say plates would help alert others that there is an inexperienced driver on the road.
But the AA says this won't cover the large proportion of visiting drivers who don't rent vehicles but instead borrow them from family and friends.
