A serious crash in Huntly on Monday afternoon killed three people, including two children, and seriously injured two others.
The accident involved a truck and a car colliding on State Highway 1 near Rayners Road around 2:40pm.
Five people were in the car, a Nissan Sunny - three have died, one is in a critical condition and one is in a serious condition, police say.
A spokesperson for St John Ambulance says the injured pair are a nine-year-old girl and a 22-year-old woman.
The deceased are believed to be a father and his two sons.
The truck driver was uninjured.
Diversions were put in place through Te Kauwhata and Te Ohaki Road with motorists asked to avoid the area.
