Police in Hamilton have been guarding a site on a riverbank where the body of a woman was found on Wednesday night.
They're treating the incident as an unexplained death.
Officers cordoned off an area of the Waikato riverbank near Ann Street after the body was found by a member of the public.
Police believe they know who the woman was and have contacted her next-of-kin to arrange a formal identification.
