One of the Green Party's most senior MPs has resigned.
Kevin Hague will leave Parliament to take up a new role as the chief executive of Forest and Bird.
He's been an MP for eight years, and has been at the forefront of many campaigns against the Government.
He was their spokesperson for conservation, health and rainbow issues.
Last year, he nominated himself as co-leader of the party, but was beaten by newcomer James Shaw.
Mr Hague will start the new job in October, with Auckland-based Barry Coates replacing him from the list.
Forest and Bird board member Kate Graeme is thrilled Mr Hague will be joining them.
"Kevin has an excellent grasp of conservation opportunities and challenges in Aotearoa New Zealand and globally. He has been active at many levels of the conservation sector and is already familiar with Forest and Bird's values and focus," she says.
