Warriors prop Suaia Matagi has been named by both the Kiwis and Toa Samoa for the upcoming Four Nations tournament.
Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney this morning named Matagi among four rookies for his 24-man squad to take on Australia, England and Samoa later this month.
Matagi's inclusion was dependent on an eligibility transfer from Samoa.
But Samoa have indicated they will dig in and fight for the 26-year-old, naming him in the 23-man squad this evening.
The Kiwis are waiting on clearance from the Rugby League International Federation before finalising Matagi's place in the squad.
Matagi and with Cronulla Sharks utility Sosaia Feki, 23, get their chances with the late withdrawals of Sydney Roosters players, winger Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves who are understood to be suffering "burnout from a long season".
