The country’s Super Rugby coaches swapped their game plans for bridles as they got some tips from horse whisperer Andrew Froggatt.Mr Froggatt is teaching rugby coaches about themselves at the Talking Horses Programme north of Wellington.
Among the those involved were Highlanders coach Dave Rennie, there with his former racehorse Centage, referee Chris Pollack and Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett, who met his match with wild horse Giant.
Mr Froggatt says the horses can be used as a mirror for human behaviour, and the coaches swapped back play for horse play in the aim of bringing confidence to their teams.
Whether their newfound insight sets these coaches up to handle and hurdles that might crop up next season remains to be seen.
