Mourners screamed and fainted at a wake in Alagoinhas, Brazil, when the man they were there to bury walked in - obviously still alive.
Gilberto Araujo, 41, says he heard from a friend his family thought he was dead, reports AFP.
"A friend of mine told me there was a coffin at the wake - and that I was inside it," Araujo said. "I told him: 'But I am alive! Pinch me!'"
It turns out Araujo's family was burying a corpse that bore a striking resemblance to him. The body apparently had not been formally identified.
"People were so startled. Women were fainting, people started running all over the place," said mourner Maria Menezes.
His mother said she was beside herself with joy.
"What mother who is told her son is dead is not going to be overjoyed when she sees her son alive again?" said Marina Santana.
