A pregnant Scottish woman was returning from a short trip to London with her husband Iain when a security guard pulled her over and confiscated the two jars of Nutella she had in her hand luggage because it posed a "security risk".
Kara Harrison told UK media: "We'd packed everything into our hand luggage so that we would be quick getting on the flight, but as we watched the bags go through the scanner, we realised something was wrong.
"I explained that they were Nutella spread and that they were Christmas presents. But they said that as they were a liquid they'd have to be confiscated.
"It seemed completely daft. It was obvious what they were and that they didn't pose a security threat. I explained that they were Nutella spread and that they were Christmas presents. But they said that as they were a liquid they'd have to be confiscated."
A spokesman for London City Airport said it adheres to rules set out by the Department for Transport.
