The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner avoids drinking in bars - because he is haunted by a previous role as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Renner played the notorious murderer and cannibal in 2002 movie Dahmer, and admits the shoot took its toll on him.
The actor found it impossible to go drinking in nightclubs after learning how the Wisconsin-based killer would pick up victims in bars - and Renner still suffers from the intense role.
He says, "It really messed with me for a couple of years, that role. I couldn't go into bars alone. I still really can't. It makes me think about how easy it is to put something in someone's drink and then have your way with them. I mean, oh my gosh. It's just one of those things where someone who has a lot of free time can do a lot of good, or a lot of bad."
Dahmer was caged for life in 1992 after he was found guilty of 15 murders. He was battered to death by a fellow inmate in 1994.
