Comic superhero Thor is set to hammer his way back into movie theatres for a third instalment of the hit action franchise.
The third Marvel film will serve as a sequel to 2013's Thor: The Dark World.
Marvel's senior vice president of production, Craig Kyle, has been hired to write the script alongside Thor: The Dark World writer Christopher Yost.
A statement from Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president of production, reads, "I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process.
"The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor's adventure."
Chris Hemsworth is expected to reprise his role as the titular superhero.
