Melanie Reid joined TV3 when the company first started in 1989. She has reported for 3News, 20/20 and 60 Minutes and played an important role in the development of the channel. Her career includes a 1998 - 2004 stint as second-in-charge of News and Current Affairs at TV3, before returning to investigative journalism in 2004.
A true figurehead in New Zealand investigatory reporting, 2012 saw Melanie named ‘Journalist of the Year’ and win ‘Investigation of the Year’ for her on-going work reporting the Bronwyn Pullar and ACC scandal, which screened on TV3’s 60 Minutes.
As well as being a multi-award-winning current affairs journalist, Melanie has made several ground-breaking documentaries, including the controversial "Let Us Spray" on the impact of the chemical 245T in New Zealand. She continues to break some of New Zealand’s biggest stories, including the revelations in the David Bain case on 3rd Degree in 2013.
Melanie lives in Auckland. Her son Elliot has represented New Zealand in the international surfing scene and is the 2013 Under 18 National Champ.
