The man known as 'Freddie' enters his fifth America's Cup campaign, after previous stints with GBR Challenge (2003), Victory Challenge (2007), Luna Rossa (2013) and most recently BAR (2017).
Carr will provide the power for Team UK as a grinder and his work ethic puts him in good stead for that role.
He is one of the powerhouses of the British challenge. During the BAR campaign, he spent more than 15 hours a week in the gym.
Away from sailing, Carr has completed four marathons and finished ninth in the 2015 British indoor rowing championships.
He has won world and European championships, as well as a youth world match-racing title.
