TERRY HUTCHINSON
Born: May 20, 1973 (52)
Role: American Magic chief executive & skipper
America's Cup campaigns: 5
Hutchinson joins American Magic as CEO and skipper, alongside Kiwi helmsman Dean Barker, after previously serving with Artemis Racing, Team NZ, Stars & Stripes and America One.
The 52-year-old started his America's Cup career as a mainsail trimmer on America One, where his boat lost 5-4 to Prada in the 2000 challenger final. He then shifted to Stars & Stripes for the 2003 campaign as tactician.
The Maryland native is best known to New Zealand fans for his time with Team NZ, when he was Barker's tactician on the boat that fell short of regaining the trophy from Alinghi in 2007.
Hutchinson moved to his fourth team in 2013, when he was skipper of the Swedish challenger Artemis Racing, which capsized off San Francisco, killing crew member Andrew Simpson.
Away from the America's Cup, Hutchinson has built an incredible record as an 11-time world champion, with his first title (Corel 45) in 1995 and his most recent (RC 44) in 2017.
He is also a two-time Rolex Yachtsman of the Year in 2008 and 2014.
