While Stewart is named in both road and track squads for Birmingham, he's probably better known as a track specialist, capturing the world omnium crown - cycling's equivalent of athletics' decathlon - in 2019.
He sprang to prominence with four world junior titles in 2015 & 2016, including back-to-back omnium success.
At the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Stewart won silver in the scratch race and points race, and duplicated that finish at the Tokyo Olympics omnium, substituting for injured Aaron Gate, after his crash in the team pursuit.
Racing for the NZ Black Spoke team, Stewart showed his ability on the road in 2021, winning two stages and taking second overall in A Travers les Hauts de France, but has since joined Team BikeExchange-Jayco.
