Hayden Wilde
Age: 24
Born: September 1, 1997 at Taupō
Height: 1.78m
Events: Triathlon individual & mixed relay
Coach: Craig Kirkwood
Wilde took up triathlon, after watching the 2016 Rio Olympics, and has become one of the world's top exponents, with a particular strength in the closing run.
For that reason, he's known as 'The Falcon' for his ability to run opponents down from behind.
Wilde tuned up for last year's Olympics with third place in the Europe championships and victory in the Super League race at London, converting that form into a bronze medal at Tokyo.
This year, he has continued to improve, with World Cup victories at Leeds and Hamburg, and second at Yokohama, battling British rival Alex Yee.
Wilde is also a two-time national champion over 5000m on the track.
