Neiufi grabbed the nation's attention last year, when she captured New Zealand's first gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics, winning the 100m backstroke.
As an infant, she was run over in a hit-and-run accident, and suffered a internal bruising that left the left side of her brain smaller than the right and the left side of her body weaker.
Encouraged by her physiotherapist, Neiufi began swimming when she was nine and represented New Zealand at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, where she finished seventh in the 100m backstroke.
She improved to sixth at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and captured silver at the 2019 world championships.
