Birmingham will make beach volleyball's second appearance at the Commonwealth Games, after its debut at Gold Coast four years ago.
On that occasion, Australia captured the men's gold, with Kiwi brothers Ben and Sam O'Dea taking the bronze medal, and Canada won the women's tournament.
This time round, the O'Dea brothers ended their combination and sought to qualify with different partners, with Sam and Brad Fuller winning through.
Among the women, Shaunna Polley will also return with a different partner, after losing to Cyprus in the quarter-finals with Kelsie Wills.
