A once-in-a-lifetime chance to dance with Channing Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum was sold for US$13,000 at a charity auction in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The couple was among the celebrity guests at the Dizzy Feet gala, an event which benefits the youth dance organisation of the same name which was co-founded by Adam Shankman, the director of their hit film Step Up, and British TV producer Nigel Lythgoe.

As part of the silent auction, the Magic Mike star and his leading lady offered up a chance to dance with them, and Shankman revealed on his Instagram page that the highest bidders turned out to be the youngest of fans.

Shankman wrote, "That moment where I auctioned off a dance with @channingtatum and @jennaldewan for almost 13k to a really cool bunch of little girls... It was magical."

Dewan also put on her dancing shoes to perform a special duet with Emmy nominated-choreographer Travis Wall, and former Saved By The Bell star Elizabeth Berkley also took the stage for a special number.

Other celebrities in attendance included Paula Abdul, Christina Applegate, Lance Bass and Jenna Elfman.
