Capcom have made their latest character announcement for Street Fighter V, this time for the first of four brand new fighters, Necalli.
Yoshinori Ono, producer of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V, came on stage at Evo 2015 ahead of the finals for the Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament to introduce Necalli. He was teased at the end of the Ken reveal trailer, but this is our first full look at him - a burly, tattooed fighter with long red dreadlocks, wearing little more than a loincloth with shorts underneath.
From the trailer, his move set appears similar to Alex from Street Fighter III and Abel from Street Fighter IV; a hybrid grappler who's quicker and has more striking attacks than "pure" grapplers like Zangief and Hugo. His V-Trigger power makes his hair turn bright red and defy gravity, and appears to power up his attacks in some way.
Necalli's trailer is set on the previously-revealed New Zealand stage, though the character's origin is yet to be revealed. That said, the name Necalli is of Aztec origin (and means "battle"), suggesting that he may be South American.
