The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in conjunction with Auckland Live is bringing the works of famed composer Nobuo Uematsu to life for Kiwi fans, performing the music from the Final Fantasy series.

After a sell-out world tour, Final Symphony will be coming to Auckland in 2016. Appropriately, the concert is scheduled for the same weekend as the Armageddon Expo, which is also celebrating its 21st birthday.

Final Symphony will be conducted by outgoing APO Music Director Eckehard Stier, who conducted the London Symphony Orchesta's recording of Final Symphony at Abbey Road Studios.

The concert also features Stephen de Pledge, a New Zealand piano soloist who has collaborated with countless other groups like the English Chamber Orchestra Ensemble.

Final Symphony makes up just one of the events planned for the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra's 2016 season. Chief Executive Barbara Glaser says that reaching new audiences with orchestral music is a key focus for the APO.

"We're very excited to be bringing Final Symphony to Auckland next year" Glaser said.

"Music is an integral part of the gaming experience and I'm confident the fans of the Final Fantasy games will relish the opportunity to hear the music played by a full orchestra"

Final Symphony consists of music from Final Fantasy VI, VII, and X. It's scheduled for Friday October 21, 2016 at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre.

Tickets go on sale Monday 28 September via Ticketmaster.
