Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have split.
The 30-year-old singer has announced the news on her Instagram page with a statement.
Lavigne accompanied the words with a picture of herself and Kroeger from their wedding day two years ago.
"It is with a heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today," writes Lavigne.
"Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."
Lavigne and Kroeger have been at the centre of rumours about the state of their marriage since October 2014.
However, they appeared to have got past their problems and Kroeger spoke openly about how he had been supporting Lavigne following her diagnosis with Lyme disease.
Lavigne and Kroeger met while working on the 'Girlfriend' singer's fifth album in 2012 and were quick to fall in love. Kroeger proposed a month and six days after they began dating.
"It was like we'd known each other forever," Lavigne told People magazine last year. "It's a very intimate process, and you have to really open up when you're songwriting. When it was over and I had to go work with other people, it sucked.
"So I called him and asked him to come back to LA to do some more writing with me, and he was like, 'Hell yeah!'"
The end of Lavigne's marriage comes just days after her first husband Deryck Whibley tied the knot with his second wife, Ariana Cooper. The former couple were married from 2006 until 2010.
