A decision over whether Chris Brown will be allowed to enter Australia later this year has been referred to the country's Minister for Immigration.
The 'Kiss Kiss' star is due to travel Down Under in December to bring his tour to cities including Sydney and Melbourne.
However, he is facing protests from Australian activists who have launched a petition calling for the singer's work visa to be refused due to his criminal record.
Brown has an assault conviction for viciously beating up his former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, and he also spent two months in prison in 2012 for a probation violation. He has a history of violent outbursts and temper problems and has never shown remorse for his savage bashing of Rihanna.
It has now emerged the campaign has prompted Australia's most senior politicians to review the case.
Minister for Women and Minister for Employment Michaelia Cash has revealed the decision on Brown's case will be looked at by Peter Dutton, Minister for Immigration and Border Protection.
Speaking at a press conference announcing an initiative to combat domestic violence, Cash said, "I can assure you that the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection will be looking at this very, very seriously. People need to understand, if you are going to commit domestic violence and you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you: 'You cannot come in because you are not of the character that we expect in Australia'. This is a government that is not afraid to say no."
