The first full trailer for Oliver Stone's Edward Snowden biopic has been released, giving a glimpse at how the whistleblower stole and released information about the US government's mass spying operations.
Snowden, based on the true-story, follows the former NSA worker who fled the US and became one of the country's most wanted men.
The trailer shows off Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Snowden, Shailene Woodley as his girlfriend Lindsay Mills, Zachary Quinto as journalist Glenn Greenwald, along with Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage.
"Most Americans don't want freedom. They want security," Ifans' character says in the two-and-a-half minute clip.
"There's something going on in the government that's really wrong, and I can't ignore it," Gordon-Levitt's Snowden says as he is seen stealing data and hiding it in Rubik's Cube.
"If I don't do it then I don't know anybody else can."
The film is set for release in September.
