Members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill have formed a rap-metal supergroup, according to reports.
Prophets of Rage will feature the three non-singing members of Rage Against the Machine -- Tim Commerford, Tom Morello and Brad Wilk -- with rappers Chuck D and B-Real, according to music magazines Rolling Stone and Billboard.
Speculation began Rage Against the Machine were back in action, perhaps to gatecrash the upcoming Republican National Convention, when a website prophetsofrage.com emerged earlier this week.
The site also features a hashtag #takethepowerback, the name of a Rage Against the Machine song.
In the 16 years since the band's last album they've only performed sporadically, last getting on stage together in 2011. Rolling Stone quoted a "source close to the band" said it wasn't a reunion however.
"There's a lot more to it. There are a lot of moving parts, a lot of exciting news to be revealed."
Billboard says it understands the new group will debut at the Hollywood Palladium on June 3, and tour in the northern hemisphere summer.
Public Enemy and Rage Against the Machine are known for their strong views and political activism, while Cypress Hill are more closely associated with marijuana culture.
