Tasha Hohaia, from Ngāpuhi is no typical lawyer, she's a part time singer too.
Hohaia told The Hui, "Nobody cares about what I have to say but then when I sing a song, people are listening."
With her latest single 'Catching Feelings' reaching number 4 on the iTunes charts, she says a fulltime singing career is the ultimate dream.
Hohaia made her debut on last year's X Factor, making it through to the boot camp stage of the competition.
A qualified lawyer, the songstress decided to give up the court room to fulfil another of her passions, working with youth. Hohaia is the Māori and Pacific student advocate at the Manukau Institute of Technology.
Hohaia is currently working on a te reo Māori single entitled 'Manukau', waiata about the place she loves, the place she calls her 'kāinga'.
