Controversial pop star Kanye West has cancelled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour after a lengthy tirade and premature finish to a weekend concert.

The 'Heartless' singer hit headlines with his tirades over the last week, which included praising US President-elect Donald Trump and attacking Beyonce, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton.

Kanye left his most recent crowd in Sacramento waiting before he arrived 90 minutes late, then only performed three songs before leaving them on Saturday night (local time).

"The remaining dates on the Saint Pablo Tour have been cancelled. Tickets will be fully refunded at point of purchase," his representatives say in a statement released today.

The abrupt tour cancellation comes ahead of Kanye's scheduled performance in Fresno, California on Tuesday (local time), with more concerts scheduled in Atlanta, Boston, Brooklyn, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Louisville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington DC and other cities through New Year's Eve.

Kanye's current tour has featured a stage that could be raised and suspended over a mosh pit.

He told media he wanted to "take the concert experience to another level" and "I want people to come to the Pablo shows and know it's just going to be the best time they've had in their life".

Judging by the boos and heckles featured in videos of Kanye quitting his weekend show - and tour - early, he hasn't achieved those lofty ambitions.
