Twenty years after the Titanic graced the world's cinema screens, director James Cameron has answered one critical question plaguing viewers - 'why didn't Rose let Jack on to the piece of floating wreckage?'
Cameron answered the question about the infamous faux pas in an interview the Daily Beast, saying it just wasn't in the script.
In saying that, he busted the MythBusters 2012 theory Jack, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, could have indeed hopped on the floating door and survived the icy cold Atlantic Ocean.
He reciprocated the same message he gave on that programme in the latest interview.
"We're gonna go there? Look, it's very, very simple: you read page 147 of the script and it says, 'Jack gets off the board and gives his place to her so that she can survive,'" he says.
"It's that simple. You can do all the post-analysis you want."
But Cameron didn't stop there about shutting down their theory.
"Okay, so let's really play that out: you're Jack, you're in water that's 28 degrees Fahrenheit [that's -2degC], your brain is starting to get hypothermia," he says.
"MythBusters asks you to now go take off your life vest, take hers off, swim underneath this thing, attach it in some way that it won't just wash out two minutes later - which means you're underwater tying this thing on in 28degF water, and that's going to take you five to 10 minutes, so by the time you come back up you're already dead."
But in February last year, Kate Winslet, who plays Rose Dawson in the film, admitted to late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel that she thought the ill-fated pair could have fit on the door.
The 1997 film still remains in the top highest-grossing films of all time.
