Winona Ryder's facial expressions as a co-star gave a speech deserve an award themselves after sparking a flurry of memes.

As Stranger Things won the biggest TV honour at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards, actor David Harbour gave an impassioned speech about "how great acting can change the world".

Ryder stood beside him, expressing a diverse range of emotions with her face that needs to be seen to be believed.

"This award... is a call to arms from our fellow craftsmen and -women to go deeper and through our art, to battle against fear, self-centeredness, and the exclusivity of a predominantly narcissistic culture and through our craft to cultivate a more empathetic and understanding society by revealing intimate truths that serve as a forceful reminder to folks that when they feel broken and afraid and tired, they are not alone," Harbour said breathlessly.

"We will shelter freaks and outcasts, those who have no home. We will get past the lies. We will hunt monsters.

"And when we are at a loss amidst the hypocrisy and casual violence of certain individuals and institutions, we will punch some people in the face when they seek to destroy what we have envisioned for ourselves and the marginalised."

Ryder's over-the-top physical reactions to the message were quickly seized upon by viewers claiming she was a "human gif factory".

Stranger Things claimed Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the SAG Awards.

The other ensemble winners were Orange is the New Black, and films Hidden Figures and Hacksaw Ridge.
