Following the hype around the sale of the car Tupac Shakur was shot and killed in, the SUV the Notorious BIG died in could also be yours - for a fortune.

On March 9, 1997, Christopher Wallace - aka the Notorious BIG, aka Biggie Smalls - was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

His killer has never been caught or even identified, nor has the killer of his friend-turned-rival Tupac.

The 1997 GMC Suburban that Biggie was killed in is for sale on Moments in Time for US$1.5 million - the same auction website and price as the Tupac death car.

"I read you were selling Tupac's BMW and wondered if you would also be interested in selling our car," writes the owner.

"I have requested the LAPD to return the original bullet-riddled doors upon closure of the case."

The owner says she and her husband purchased the vehicle some months after Biggie's death, unaware of its history, as they wanted a large vehicle for their family of six.

"We have kept the car now for 20 years and decided it is finally time to sell it. It is in good running condition with 114,000 miles," she says.

Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace told the New York Post this week she is haunted by the fact his killer hasn't been brought to justice.

"It still hurts that nothing has been done," Ms Wallace said.

"I am grateful to everyone who remembers him... whatever the world sees him as, I just see him as my son. He may not be here, but his memory is etched in me for life."

Ms Wallace is producing the first ever authorised documentary about her son, Notorious B.I.G.: One More Chance, which is due for release this year - the 20th anniversary of his death.
