The third season of The Bachelor NZ is about to launch, proving that Kiwis love shows about love.

So, will this year's season bring with it the huge success of the last two?

The Bachelor NZ star Zac Franich appeared on Three's The Project on Friday, and revealed his reaction to seeing the first episode.

The 28-year-old surfer and lifeguard told the hosts that watching it was "crazy".

"It took me right back to the first night again and I got all the emotions and the shakes and the sweat palms," he said.

"It's not a fun game - for me, it's not a fun game. I'm putting myself out there and I am out there to find the right girl for me, and I'm not taking it as a game at all."

The hunk refused to be drawn on who he liked best, saying they were "all incredibly beautiful and they've all got really amazing stories to tell" - although he was terrified at first.

He said he appeared on The Bachelor NZ because he was in a space where he was "single at 28 and this opportunity was put in front of me and I thought, why not?"

And he's hopeful he'll find the right woman.

"I believe in things happening for a reason and serendipity and love at first sight. So when you put yourself out there to be in this situation, you never know what's going to grab back out at you."

The Bachelor NZ airs on Sunday at 7pm and continues on Monday at 7:30pm.
