Monty Python's Flying Circus legend John Cleese says Donald Trump's supporters are the "stupidest" people he has ever met.
The comedian, who lives in the US, says the current political situation in the country is completely mad.
"People don't want to admit how mad it is. They cannot believe what is happening," he said on ITV's The Nightly Show.
"They still think he's great, but these are the stupidest people you have ever met."
Host Dermot O'Leary asked Cleese, 77, if he'd noticed any changes in the US since Mr Trump's inauguration.
"Does the Pope s**t in the woods?" the Fawlty Towers legend replied.
Elsewhere in the interview Cleese admitted he expects to die soon, "although my mother lived to be 101", and said his children were a "pain the a**".
Cleese has never been one to mince his words, infamously calling Palmerston North "grotty" and the "suicide capital of New Zealand".
