The first look at an Indian remake of Sylvester Stallone's Rambo has been revealed.
At the Cannes Film Festival, rising Bollywood star Tiger Shroff was announced as signing on to play a new version of the '80s action icon.
The remake will follow the last surviving member of an elite covert unit of the Indian Armed Forces, who finds his own land plagued by war upon returning home - forcing him to become the unstoppable killing machine he was trained to be in the dangerous jungles and frozen mountains of the Himalayas.
"Being a martial artist and a huge action movie buff since childhood, this all seems very surreal," says Shroff.
"I'm very grateful for this opportunity. By no means do I believe I can replace the legendary Sylvester Stallone; however, I do feel that somehow this is something I've been preparing for since childhood."
Stallone took to social media to express his hope that the remake doesn't "wreck" the character he made famous.
The new Rambo is being directed by Siddharth Anand with filming set to begin in February.
