Australia's Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is set to receive a Hollywood star in his honour.
Mr Irwin was famous for his conservation work, as he spearheaded efforts to bring awareness to the importance of wildlife. He died in 2006 after a stingray tail pierced his heart.
The Walk of Fame Committee announced the decision on Friday morning (local time), citing his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry through his wildlife documentaries".
The moment his family received the news was filmed and posted to Terri Irwin's Twitter account.
"We're in the middle of nowhere so we have no phone signal but we do have a tiny amount of wifi," Bindi Irwin says.
"We've been told to set up our laptop and watch this surprise video."
When they found out they cheered and hugged one another in excitement.
"Steve has always said that he didn't care if anyone remembered him, as long as they remembered his message," Terry Irwin later said in a statement.
"I truly believe that this recognition for Steve's achievements will ensure that his message of wildlife conservation is remembered."
The nomination was sponsored by the Queensland tourism campaign, called Visit Sunshine Coast.
"Dad changed the world by reaching out to people through their television screens to bring them on the adventure of a lifetime," Bindi says.
"To have his name on a Hollywood star means the world as we carry on with his important work."
