A former American Idol contestant has been arrested and charged with assault after punching a bouncer outside a bar.
According to police, Haley Reinhart, who appeared on the 10th season of the hit talent competition, was taken into custody after the singer and her friends allegedly knocked over a table and were asked to leave local establishment the Lamplighter Inn.
She's now been released from custody and will appear in court on August 2 (local time).
Reinhart's lawyer, Dina LaPolt, says they deny the allegations, reports the Chicago Tribune. She claimed in a statement released on Monday it was Reinhart's friend who was "violently beaten" and "sustained multiple injuries," although she did not specify who did the beating.
LaPolt said she intends to file a lawsuit against the Lamplighter Inn.
Since her Idol debut Reinhart has released two studio albums. The first, Listen Up!, was released in 2012, to little success. Reinhart's follow-up, Better, came in 2016. Her latest album What's That Sound is a collection of '60s covers due out in September.
