Lena Dunham is joining the US election-themed seventh season of Ryan Murphy's hit TV show American Horror Story and some fans are far from happy about it.
The Girls creator is being added to a line-up that includes Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Billie Lourd, Billy Eichner, Cheyenne Jackson, Alison Pill, Colton Haynes and Adina Porter.
Dunham's involvement was announced by Murphy on Twitter, where he called her his "talented friend".
"[The seventh season] is going to be about the election that we just went through so I think that will be interesting for a lot of people," Murphy told media.
He added that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton won't be portrayed by actors in the show, but will be seen on televisions.
"The first 10 minutes of the season takes place in a very eerie macabre way on Election Night and there's something terrible that happens in the lives of our characters on Election Night as they're watching it all go down," he said.
The announcement has not gone down well with some fans, who have expressed their displeasure on Twitter using animated gifs - prompting Dunham herself to respond with an animated gif.
