Teuila Blakely has taken to social media to hit out at a Flava FM host, whom she accuses of encouraging online bullying against herself and her son.

The former Shortland Street star appears to be making the allegations against broadcaster Athena Angelou, who responded on social media herself with messages that have since been deleted.

Blakely was featured in a lengthy article in NZME publication the New Zealand Herald earlier this week, which seems to have triggered the alleged attack from Angelou.

"I'm rolling out the welcome mat for the females suffering from internalised misogyny... @flavaradio thanks for allowing one of your on air staff who shall remain nameless coz she actually is, for publicly encouraging online bullying of myself and my son," Blakely wrote in an Instagram post.

"I am a foundation DJ of this station and tell me exactly what I've done to deserve this... Each to their own but do not allow someone who has a responsibility to broadcast with integrity like I have always done to do this."

Angelou responded on Facebook defending herself and extending an "invite" to Blakely, but later deleted the post.

Blakely posted a screenshot of the post, along with another Facebook post Angelou deleted, with a message that she in fact made the first invitation.

Others have leapt to the defence of Blakely online, including her 25-year-old son Jared, cousin Savali Pesamino and media personalities.

"Wow that's not cool at all. But lady, you are f**king awesome and the dickheads who are, let's be honest, super threatened by you so they try to validate their own miserable existences by tearing you down, they don't deserve a second of your time," singer/columnist Lizzie Marvelly commented on Blakely's post.

Flava FM says the matter is private as the comments were made on personal social media accounts and not in any of its broadcasts or publications.

Blakely is a former Flava FM personality herself, but has more recently appeared on MediaWorks station Mai FM.
