Veteran director Gavin O'Connor has been tapped to helm the upcoming sequel to 2016's divisive villain team-up flick, Suicide Squad.
O'Connor is best-known for films such as Warrior and The Accountant, and is reportedly both writing and directing the project, Variety reports.
The first film's director, David Ayer, will not be returning in any capacity - not surprising, as it garnered some truly dire reviews.
Despite the bad press, Suicide Squad went on to net over US$700 million worldwide, so it's unsurprising that Warner Bros has greenlit this sequel.
Suicide Squad also managed an Oscar win for best make-up, with rival studio Marvel yet to claim any Oscars, despite 10 nominations.
Suicide Squad 2 has no set release date, but Variety suggests the film could begin production as early as this year.
