It's been 20 years since the movie made us laugh, but Australia's most famous 'Castle' is finally on the move.
The house made famous in classic film The Castle is on its way to a new life as a tourist attraction.
- Bonnie Doon house in The Castle can be rented on Air BnB
- Heritage protection for the Castle house rejected
The move comes after the ultimate piece of movie memorabilia sold to Beechworth businessmen at auction for AU$40,000 (NZ$43,000) in July.
New owner George Fendyk told news.com.au that it would be trucked in pieces to the north east over Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr Fendyk and business partner Geoff Lucas plan to use the house as a manager's residence at a caravan park at Mayday Hills.
Seller Vicky Cosentino offered the house without its block next to the airport, as she planned to build two townhouses on the site.
Ms Cosentino had owned the humble weatherboard for 24 years, including when the 1997 Aussie classic was filmed there.
